10/27/11: Pharmacy OneSource Releases Enhancements for Simplifi 797 Label Module by Pharmacy OneSource

Bellevue, Wash.  Wolters Kluwer Health announced today that Pharmacy OneSource released new enhancements for the label module of Simplifi 797, a web-based quality assurance software for USP 797 sterile compounding compliance. The new features allow users to limit how many label fields are required for their facility and offer additional printing options. Users can also now apply barcodes horizontally or vertically, as well as add prep time for compounded medications with expiration dates less than 24 hours.. read more...

08/04/10: USP 797 Learning Boosted by Virtual Clean Room

According to an article in Pharmacy Practice News, by David Bronstein, Purdue University’s College of Pharmacy has developed a three-dimensional (3-D) virtual clean room to teach its students how to comply with USP Chapter 797 requirements for sterile IV preparations.“The primary goal of the program,“ according to the article, “the first of its kind in pharmacy education, according to the instructors—was to enhance the students’ ability to confidently follow the sterile-compounding requirements. read more...

PHOENIX, AZ, Oct 14, 2008 - The United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) recently released a new General Chapter < 797 > providing procedures and requirements for compounding sterile preparations. The standards in USP 797 apply to all people and facilities that prepare "compounding sterile preparations" including pharmacies, health care clinics and hospitals.  These requirements include routine biological monitoring of the compounding area, including identification by an appropriately credentialed laboratory of any microorganisms recovered.
