Pharmacy Design Architect Completes New USP 797 Compliant Pharmacy for Prominent Cancer Center Hospital in Buffalo, New York

Pharmacy design architecture firm Bernstein & Associates, Architects, is pleased to announce that it has completed another, new USP 797 compliant pharmacy for Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. The project involved complete redesign and reconstruction of large new cancer center pharmacy. This hospital pharmacy design project involved state-of-the-art pharmacy automation equipment.

The pharmacy had to be designed and constructed in a phased manner, to allow for continuous operation of the pharmacy during construction. Program areas included: Inventory, Receiving, Carousel, Pallet Store/Breakout, Order Entry, Pharmacy Automation Equipment, Narcotics Vault, Hazardous Compounding, Non- Hazardous Compounding, Anteroom, Compounding Staging Area, Purchasing, Tube Station, Offices, Library, Lockers, Rest Rooms, Staff Lounge, Electrical Room and Tel/Data Room.

Pharmacy design consulting services provided by Bernstein & Associates, Architects included: pharmacy program, pharmacy planning, pharmacy equipment planning, pharmacy design, pharmacy bid documents, approval of the pharmacy design by regulatory authorities, pharmacy equipment planning, and oversight of the pharmacy construction. In general, the project was designed and built to meet the latest version of USP 797.

The pharmacy project is a complete new pharmacy. The project includes all new USP 797 compliant anteroom, new USP 797 compliant hazardous compounding room, and new USP 797 compliant non-hazardous compounding room.
